Success Story – Raven Freeman

Mrs. Raven Freeman is a Training Coordinator/Instructor on the Learning and Organizational Development Team at the South Carolina Department of Administration. She is also a Certified Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) and certified in various Franklin Covey courses. Raven is driven and passionate about helping people through training and witnessing their growth and development. She provides support in coordinating Administrative Training Programs and other training to state agencies through open enrollment classes. She also assists with internal training at the Administration and co-manages the LinkedIn Learning Platform statewide. Mrs. Freeman earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Benedict College in 2013 and a Master’s in Human Services from Argosy University. She is a multi-skilled public service professional with eight (8) years of experience in various capacities of case management, public service, and employment/ training services. She also has six (6) years of experience working in state government, with time spent at McCormick County School District, the Department of Social Services, and the Department of Employment and Workforce. 

Benedict College’s Influence

Raven stated, “Benedict College changed my life as I always say, more so, the career services department helped mold me. The career services & service-learning department influenced my entire career! I always said I would be an adult protective services worker but ended up with a career in workforce development and learning development. As a former student program coordinator in service learning, I learned so much throughout my collegiate career that I still utilize today.”

Advice to Current Students

Mrs. Freeman’s career advice to current students is to,  “always have faith over fear! Believe in yourself, even if no one else does.” She’s a firm believer in helping others as others have helped you.

    l am Raven Freeman’s Aunt and a 1975 graduate of Benedict College, with a B.A. degree in Social Work, focusing on Casework. Over the years, Benedict College has provided valuable opportunities to African Americans in their effort to become productive members of society. l remain forever grateful for the opportunity Benedict gave me and others over the years.
